
Sophie Thompson
Sophie is a landscape architect and public realm lead at LDA Design. She has twenty years’ experience in the design and delivery of liveable streets, squares, and green spaces. She currently leads the £35m West End Project, one of the most ambitious transformations of public realm in central London.
This Camden Council scheme removes general traffic and sections of highway to create cycle lanes, healthy streets and seven multi-functional urban spaces. Sophie specialises in carving out new types of urban and green space to create a healthier, child-friendly, and more experiential towns and cities.
Other projects include rethinking Newcastle City Centre public realm to make it greener and more inclusive, improving flood defences and shared spaces along Southsea seafront, and reimagining streets and spaces in Covent Garden, London Wall/Moorgate, and Great Ormond Street. She sits on the NLA Transport and Infrastructure Expert Panel and High Streets Task Force.
