Rusti Hampshire Ltd creates architecturally striking woven steel fencing and edging solutions to protect weather-worn gardens.

Founders Oli Lambert and Brodie Biddle were growing frustrated with the failure of timber fencing in the face of the UK’s ever harsher elements. The solution was raw mild steel, woven like willow to produce strong, ultra-durable and low-maintenance boundaries and edges that are both elegant and long lasting.

Rusti’s raw steel is designed to rust naturally to form an elegant and protective orange patina. Unlike wood, Rusti doesn’t rot, warp, bow to harsh winds nor require upkeep. It will soon be available powder coated into xx colours.

All fencing is completely bespoke, hand-made on site to any height or length specified by the customer, and can uniquely be curved to tracing the contours of the land, creating elegant and lasting boundaries. Rusti can be used for retaining walls, planters and to provide unbeatable security — particularly along Hampshire’s south coast which is increasingly battered by the worsening elements.

“As well as being tough, long-lasting and structurally secure, Rusti is an environmentally-sensitive solution, too,” says former sculptor Oli, who ran a successful high-end design and build company in London for 20 years. “We don’t use concrete bases for the posts, but install twice as many as a wooden fence making it many times stronger. No maintenance is needed, nor harsh chemicals to protect from wind, rain and sun — Rusti just blends into the landscape.”
