The Farm - Berkshire
The project involved building an outdoor pool between winter 2021 and summer 2022, managed by Poolcourt Ltd. The process began with collaborative design work involving architects, garden designers, and the client. Excavation was extensive due to site levels, with drainage solutions installed to manage groundwater. The pool shell was constructed using sprayed reinforced concrete, insulated to minimize heat loss, and shaped for safe diving.
Concrete and insulated pipe trenches were laid to protect plumbing, and the pool was rendered for precise dimensions and smoothness. Built-in fittings included sump, skimmer, vacuum, inlet, lighting, and a swim turbine. A flexible membrane was applied for waterproofing, followed by a static water test to ensure integrity.
Power was supplied via a 100AMP single-phase connection, and PVC pipework was installed and pressure-tested. The pool shell and pipes were backfilled with shingle for stability. The plant room, constructed by The Cosey Shed Company, housed filtration, water treatment, and heating systems, including automatic pH/chlorine control and a UV unit. The pool was finished with mosaic tiles and custom stone copings, and a feature stone wall was integrated.
Second-stage fittings included stainless steel components and LED lighting. The pool surround was paved and landscaped with lawns and wildflower meadows. Commissioning occurred in July 2022, with ongoing monthly servicing by Poolcourt Ltd, continuing through 2026.
