Foxtail Oak Ltd

Foxtail Oak does things differently. We shy away from mass-produced garden buildings in favour of structures as individual as the landscapes they sit in.

We are a family-run, bespoke green oak timber framing company based in Monmouthshire, designing, cutting and raising oak structures across South Wales, the Wye Valley, Herefordshire and into the Cotswolds — pool houses, pavilions, garden rooms, garages, porches, pergolas, extensions, and full oak frame homes.

We build with something alive. Green oak moves, weathers and matures with age, developing character that complements a landscape rather than competing with it. Every frame is hand-cut by our own carpenters from sustainably sourced British and European oak, then raised on site by that same team — no subcontracting, no disconnect between design and build.

Design happens entirely in-house: we model every structure in 3D before a chisel touches timber and can supply DWG/DXF drawings that drop straight into your own scheme. For landscape and garden designers, we work three ways — full design-and-build direct with your client, as specialist contractor within your wider scheme, or supply-only nationwide.

Where glazing meets oak, we use our own detail: a continuous waterproofing layer bonded pane to pane behind the capping boards, keeping the weatherproof line independent of the frame — so the oak can move and the glazing never leaks. We never bead-glaze.

Recent work includes pool houses, garden pavilions, glazed link structures and oak balconies, alongside bespoke furniture commissioned to complete a larger scheme.
