people lack the time or knowledge for continuous care. Boum’s mission is to make urban plant care simple, reliable and sustainable by combining plant science, solar-powered irrigation and

thoughtful design, helping people and businesses bring more healthy plants into balconies,

terraces, homes and commercial spaces. Boum is a spin-off from the University of Bern, bringing together an interdisciplinary team with expertise in plant biology, marketing, software, AI and hardware development. Boum's smart controller is the intelligence layer and the heart of

the Boum system. It features a water level sensor and a capacity of up to 55 liters, lasting for weeks, depending on the plant type. The controller distributes water through self-irrigating pots or efficient drippers whenever existing plants or installations need watering. Our patented and nature inspired wick irrigation waters plants from below and uses up to 40% less water compared to classical methods. Our pots are made from 80% recycled material and come in different shapes and colors. Based on the learnings about the water consumption of thousands of Boum systems in the field we estimate water demand precisely and make drip irrigation as efficient as possible. our understanding of real-world plant water demand and helps our algorithms become more precise. This makes urban plant care easier for private users, while helping businesses such as indoor greening services, hotels and offices reduce manual watering effort and operate more efficiently.
