Inspire Theatre: RHS Takeover
The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is hosting a series of seminars in the Inspire Theatre at this year’s FutureScape.
Visitors will gain a wealth of knowledge on how to create a show garden, from funding to planting, on 15 October at the ExCeL London.
RHS shows garden judging manager Eleanor Hollingworth will kick off the day by hosting a discussion to explain the judging process and criteria. Panellists Mark Gregory, Tamsin Westhorpe and James Alexander-Sinclair will offer their advice on how best to achieve maximum points.
Malcolm Anderson, the RHS head of sustainability, then shares the techniques and materials that were used to make this year’s show gardens more environmentally friendly. He’s joined by Liz Nicholson, the driving force behind the Green Garden Audit, and RHS judge Paul Cowell.
A panel of designers – including Juliet Sargeant, who won Best in Show at this year’s RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival – will share their experiences on finding and working with sponsors. RHS corporate partnerships manager Sophia Notghi will host the discussion, which also includes Zoe Claymore and Mike McMahon.
Garden designer Humaira Ikram will then close the day with her hints and advice on how to plan and execute planting, a vital aspect of any show garden.
